Harvey and I, both trained as visual artists, had been playing music in an improvisational group and conjuring up performances together for a number of years before we found ourselves “composing” an opera. Together we progressed from using graphical music composition software (perfect for the visually inclined) to using more traditional notation needed to produce scores for classically trained vocalists.
